Peab, a Nordic construction company, has been awarded a contract by NKT HV Cables, an AC/DC cable solutions provider, for the construction of a new dock in Karlskrona, Sweden.
The contract, valued at Skr250m ($26.3m), is part of NKT’s expansion of its high-voltage cable factory in the region.
The project includes the construction of a sheet pile dock, a pile deck dock, and a dolphin, all tailored for a new cable-laying vessel that NKT has ordered.
Additionally, the contract encompasses dredging and the new construction and refurbishment of water, sewage, and electricity facilities.
The project is set to begin this month and is expected to be completed in the first quarter (Q1) of 2027.
It will be registered in Peab’s order books in Q2 2025.

Last month, Peab secured another significant contract for the construction of a new 122m dock at the Port of Oxelösund.
This project, commissioned by Oxelösunds Hamn, is seen as a key step in modernising the port’s infrastructure and enhancing its capacity for sustainable transportation.
It involves the construction of Berth 8 and dredging the harbour basin to improve the port’s logistics capabilities.
In addition to these maritime projects, Peab has recently been selected for a major construction project at Tingdal School in Ã…storp, Sweden.
The project contract, awarded by the Åstorp municipality-owned company Björnekulla Fastigheter, will cover renovations, extensions, and new construction over a total area of 7,500m².
